Bind to address?

Postby jamie on Wed Apr 13, 2005 8:20 pm

Hi there,

As far as I can make out, there isn't any way of getting nntp//rss to bind to a specific IP. Since I'm already running INN on the server I want to run nntp//rss on, I'd like it to use another IP, hence I'm asking if this could be added in a future release.

I did check the documentation and the site and found no mention of this..

Thanks

Jamie,

There is undocumented support for this in v0.5b1 - all you need to do is edit your nntprss-config.xml file.

Look for the following section:

Code: Select all
<!-- Listener port for NNTP server -->
  <nntp port='119'/>

Add an address attribute that contains the specific IP to which you want to bind the NNTP server, e.g.

Code: Select all
<!-- Listener port for NNTP server -->
  <nntp port='119' address='192.168.1.101'/>

Restart nntp//rss, and the NNTP listener will be bound to that address. The address attribute is also in the admin element - if you want to bind the web admin interface to a specific address.

Thanks for your quick response! It'd be great if this was included in the documentation too..
